faq

  • CAN I GET PIERCED IF I'M PREGNANT?
No. Any pain inflicted on the mother can cause a trauma response that can affect the baby as well, and that's not a risk our professionals are willing to take.
  • I HAVE AN MRI COMING UP, WHAT DO I DO?
We carry an array of retainers to help ease your mind when it comes to removing a piercing for a procedure.
  • HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
The answer — it varies. We do a thorough consultation with each client and assist in the selection of jewelry. We also sterilize the jewelry which could take 3-5 minutes. This is usually done while we are cleansing and marking the area to be pierced. The actual process of piercing only takes a few minutes, however, clients have questions and we will never rush anyone through. If you are waiting for a piercing, please be patients. We are not rushing you or the person before you.
  • WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR A PERSON UNDER 18 (MINOR) TO GET A BODY PIERCING?
The parent or legal guardian will need to be with the person under 18 and have a valid state issued ID. We also need a copy (digital accepted), minor's birth certificate or custody/guardianship paperwork from the courts.
  • CAN I SWIM/HOT TUB?
No. You cannot submerge your piercing in any standing water until it is completely healed. The chemicals/salt and bacteria are very much present in pools, hot tubs, and bodies of water. The variables above can dry out your piercing site, or cause major infection.
  • MY JEWELRY IS TOO LONG, BUT IT HASN'T BEEN 6 MONTHS. WHAT DO I DO?
Visit your piercer for DOWNSIZING. When we initially do the piercing, we use jewelry that allows for any and all conditional swelling and the best healing. Once the swelling subsides, we downsize the jewelry and monitor the healing process to ensure no directional migration occurs. We take this extra step to ensure a smooth and safe healing process up to your final change out.
  • MY PIERCING IS STILL RED, AND A LITTLE SORE. HOW LONG WILL IT BE UNCOMFORTABLE?
Different piercings have different healing processes. Different people heal at different rates dependent on health, habits and some other things. Some completely heal within 6 months, some can take up to a year. Redness, weeping, itchiness (due to swelling not jewelry quality), slight throbbing, and soreness is completely common throughout the healing process. Be sure to stay on top of your downsizing, as well as checking in with your piercer to ensure your piercing is healing on track. Everybody's body is different, and we love questions and check-up visits! Please don't hesitate to stop by or reach our if you have any questions or concerns.
  • WILL MY PIERCING HURT?
While everybody's pain tolerance varies, most people will describe the sensation as pressure and/or a quick pinch. The process is often very quick and as painless as possible. It is important to note that it is never as bad as you think it will be.
  • IF I PURCHASE JEWELRY IN YOUR SHOP, CAN I HAVE IT PUT IN?
Yes! We recommend that you have one of our piercing professionals install your jewelry to ensure proper fit. They can make adjustments to sizing that way during the process to make sure you purchase the right jewelry for your piercing. Our piercers do however, charge a $10 installation/setup charge to cover time and supplies and appreciate your understanding.
  • CAN I GET A REFUND ON JEWELRY OR PIERCING SERVICES IF I DON'T LIKE IT?
Again, NO. Our piercers are highly skilled and make recommendations on placement based on anatomy and what we know works best for proper healing. If you insist on a particular jewelry size or placement and are told no, please don't be upset. If you do persuade one of our staff to go against their own recommendation, they may choose to give you what you want in an effort to make you happy. In that case, we will not refund the cost of the jewelry or the services.
  • WHAY IS TITANIUM AND GOLD JEWELRY PREFERRED AND IMPORTANT?
Here at Titan Tattoo we have a large selection of titanium and gold jewelry with unique styles for everyone. These metals do not contain nickel, brass or copper which are well known irritants to people with metal sensitivities. We will not pierce you with anything other than implant grade titanium or gold. Sterling silver is also not a smart option for fresh, healing piercings. Due to its copper contents, irritations and skin staining may occur.
  • CAN I BRING MY OWN JEWELRY TO BE PIERCE WITH?
The answer is no. There are many variables that can affect the healing of a body piercing. Jewelry is one of them. Our piercers will make recommendations on the best jewelry to use for the best healing. This way we can be certain of the quality you receive and if you do have a problem with your piercing, we know it is not the jewelry.
  • CAN I EXCHANGE MY JEWELRY OR GET A REFUND IF IT DOESN'T FIT?
Unfortunately, NO. We cannot make exchanges for health and safety reasons. Once jewelry leaves our shop, we will not exchange it for any reason, ever. If you purchase jewelry in the shop, it is best to have one of our piercers put it in for you. If you chose not to have them install your jewelry purchase, we cannot guarantee size and proper fit. Therefore, we will not refund the cost of the jewelry because you purchased the wrong size.
  • WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIO PIERCINGS?
Professional studio piercings ensure a safe and sterile piercing experience conducted by a professionally trained body artist. Professional services greatly reduce the risk of infection and allow you to rest easy knowing that everything is done in compliance with the highest industry standards as well as State and Local Health Department Regulations.
  • HOW LONG UNTIL I CAN CHANGE MY JEWELRY ON MY OWN?
We recommend 6 month across the board to be safe. We want to refrain from irritating the piercing with unknown metals, or pre-mature jewelry swapping. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE DOWNSIZING. Stay in touch with your piercer to schedule a follow up/downsizing.
  • DO I NEED AN APPOINTMENT?
No, with a few exceptions. We do most piercing on a walk-in basis. If you prefer an appointment with a particular body artist, you can always make one through our online portal. Appointments are necessary for children under 10 years of age, and are recommended for genital piercing.
  • WHAT RESTRICTIONS ON PIERCINGS ARE THERE FOR PERSONS UNDER THE AGE OF 18?
We do have certain restrictions when it comes to piercing Minors. We can pierce ear lobes as young as 5 years old with a consultation. Nostrils at 13+ and navels, lip, septum, and eyebrow piercings are 16+. ALL genital piercings are 18+.
  • WHAT DO I DO IF MY PIERCING SEEMS INFECTED?
If you have any concerns about your piercing, you can come in and our amazing piercing team will be happy to consult with you! It is better to be safe than sorry and our professionally train piercers can assist you with any questions or concerns. Your piercing is ultimately your responsibility. If you have serious concerns that are immediate and you cannot come in, seek medical attention. Avoid listening to the advice of non-professionals (family/friends).
  • WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT THROUGHOUT MY PIERCING EXPERIENCE THERE?
Upon arriving at Titan Tattoo you will be greeted by one of our staff members and you will be asked to complete an intake form with basic health information. This is our standard consent form. If you are a Minor, you and your parent/guardian will both complete the form. Your artist will discuss your piercing procedure briefly, and then set up for your procedure. Once you are in the piercing chair, they will walk you through every step of the process answering your questions along the way. After the piercing is performed, you will be given verbal and written aftercare information. Your artist will also give you contact information should you have questions once you get home or during the healing process.
  • ONCE I SUBMIT A BOOKING REQUEST, HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR ME TO HEAR BACK FROM AN ARTIST?
Once you submit your booking request, our system will send you a notification almost immediately. The artist will receive your submission and should respond within 2-3 days. “Same day” appointment requests are sometimes delayed for this reason. Occasionally, we get swamped and lose track of requests – we do not have a booking secretary and do the best we can. If no one contacts you within the week, please reach out to the shop directly.
